wordpress Why We Use Wordpress

We love WordPress at Design 1:26!!! And as a benefit to our clients, and a stress reliever for us, we are now primarily designing using WordPress. It is the future of site design on the web, and it is the future for web design at Design 1:26. We recommend visiting WordPress’ website to find out more about the WordPress platform — and if you want a few reasons why we love WordPress and why you should too, take a look at the list below:

WORDPRESS ADVANTAGES

.

1. It’s a powerful, but FREE “open source” platform.

WordPress is a powerful Content Management System (CMS) and blogging platform. Most CMS platforms that offer the power that WordPress does are very expensive. WordPress however is open source and is 100% free to own and install.

2. It lets you, the client, maintain your own site for free!!!

WordPress includes an excellent CMS, meaning that you can easily upload all your own content (text, images, videos, links, etc.) without having to pay your web designer to do it. You can edit your site with the online administration panel that WordPress gives you, use one of dozens of free utilities on the net, or get us to update your WordPress site for you.

3. It can be extended with plugins.

One of the biggest perks of WordPress is it’s plugins. WordPress plugins can allow your site to do all kinds of things. This can range from photo galleries, video and audio players, forms, blogs, social network apps, flash players, event calendars, online stores, back up utilities, and so much more. There are literally thousands of plugins available for WordPress, many of which are 100% free!!!

4. It is VERY search-engine friendly.

This is HUGE, and reason enough to do a WordPress site! Because of the way these sites are constructed (making it easy for Google to access the important content), and because of the frequent activity that you get on a WordPress site vs. a traditional website, your WordPress site will rank much more highly on Google than a regular static website. The more active your WordPress site is – and the more people that link to it – the more points you score with Google. It’s also a great idea to visit other blogs and WordPress sites on a regular basis, leaving comments that include your site’s URL. This will not only give you an opportunity to share your expertise or opinions with other readers, it will also send a lot of “link love” your way and help your own search engine rankings at the same time…a win-win scenario. Also, there are dozens of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) plugins for WordPress to better your site’s search results even more!

5. It’s compatible with all the major browsers.

One of the great features of a WordPress site is that it is compatible with the major browsers (Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer, Safari, Google Chrome, Flock). Sometimes that can be a challenge for static HTML sites. This means you won’t run into some of the bugs and display errors you find in normal sites. Simply put, your online viewers will find your site smooth and easy to navigate through, giving them a great first impression and online experience. No more site hick ups!

6. It’s interactive, which helps build community.

A WordPress site, by default, includes a “comments” feature which allows your site visitors to write you a comment, which will show up on your site, and which you can then reply to. It’s a great way to give your site visitors the feeling of being part of your online community. It also gives them another means to communicate directly with you, which increases the likelihood of turning them into a customer. This option can easily be turned off though if desired, in order to make your site look less “bloggy”.

7. WordPress builds your credibility.

People want to see the human behind the curtain, especially if the service you’re offering is something as personal as teaching or training. The more you humanize your business (always keeping it professional, of course), the more people tend to trust you, your recommendations, and your products. A blog’s “more conversational and less rigid” format is perfect for establishing a personal connection to your readers. It’s why some of the largest business names in the world use WordPress.

8. It’s structure is more organized than traditional websites.

Since WordPress sites are blogging platforms, they make a great platform to include articles, comments, editorials, reviews, tips, drawings, giveaways, and other types of news that is much harder to do on a more structured traditional website. You can organize all your pages and posts by category, making it easy to keep things organized. Also, site changes and updates are instant and can be done without the use and cost of third-party softwares like FTP clients.

9. It has highly customizable themes and templates.

By using professional and high quality customizable WordPress themes, Design 1:26 can update and change the look of your entire site at any time you desire. We can customize these beautiful themes to suit any of your needs while giving you a fresh, unique, and functional site. (Take our site for example!!!)
